Academic and Career Planning
Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requires public school districts to provide academic and career planning services to students in grades 6 through 12.

The Kiel Area School District supports students in academic and career planning, through a comprehensive student-led participation in programming on:
- Academic & Career Planning 5th-12th Grade
- Career Experience 5th-12th Grade
- Access to a formal process through connecting pupils to staff and other stakeholders for assistance in development and implementation of each pupil's academic and career plan.

Kiel Area school District strives to provide each and every student with a comprehensive, personalized and future-focused education. In order to meet such high standards, KASD will provide individualized support, appropriate to the pupil's needs, from school district staff to assist with completing and annually updating an academic career plan.
Individualized support will come in the form of Raider Time advisors and school counselors. In order to ensure all staff are delivering the ACP curriculum with fidelity, KASD will providing the staff with the following training:
- Staff professional development on navigating Xello
- ALL staff must be trained in the Xello platform.
- Help staff facilitate conversations with students around career pathways within their departments given their career matches (learning styles, personality styles, skills etc.)
- Navigation, lesson management and delivery and create your own Xello profiles

KASD is dedicated to providing each student the opportunity to receive a comprehensive, personal, future-focused education in a safe, supportive environment for the purpose of achieving excellence in their life-long pursuits, through a partnership of family, school, and community. The district is located in Kiel, Wisconsin and serves a student population of 1,218 students from Manitowoc County. The elementary school serves 458 students in grades 4K-4. The middle school serves 344 students in grades 5-8. The high school serves 374 students in grades 9-12. Each building serves approximately 10% minority students and approximately 19.9% economically disadvantaged students.
