Hello.  My name is Lori Steffen.  I am a second grade classroom teacher at Zielanis Elementary.  I graduated from Lakeland College and began teaching at Kiel in 2000. 

I live in Kiel with my husband and son.  Together we enjoy spending time hiking, fishing, playing with our border collie, and watching as our son participates in sporting and musical activities.  I also enjoy reading, flower gardening, and working on DIY projects around the house and yard. 

As a classroom teacher I focus on creating a caring classroom community that allows students to feel safe emotionally, socially, as well as academically.  I believe a structured, consistent, and nurturing learning environment allows students to take the risks necessary for growth.
