Kiel High School Freshmen
Freshmen
Throughout Freshman year, students will continue to explore how their skills, personality attributes, and interests align with possible career pathways. Students will participate in learning activities and career experiences where they will learn about multiple post-secondary options for the careers they are considering. Students will plan course sequencing that both aligns with their career interests and post-secondary needs while also learning the importance of getting involved in extracurricular opportunities.

Semester 1 Freshmen ACP Requirements
Lesson 1: Update Cover Photo and “Work Ethic” Discussion
- Update professional photo on Xello Dashboard under “About Me”
- Review Xello and ACP expectations
- Complete “Work” Ethics” Activity and Discussion
- Upload completed “Work Ethics” worksheet to your Portfolio
Lesson 2: Check Your Understanding of Holland Codes
- Review your Personality Style results on your “About Me” page. See points of discussion below.
- What is each Personality Style?
- What does each Personality Style look like?
- What does each Personality Style value? Complete “Holland Model Codes” Activity”
- Upload completed “Holland Model Codes” worksheet to your Portfolio
Lesson 3: Personality Style
- Log into Xello and navigate your Lessons page. Complete the “Personality Styles” Lesson.
- Time permitting, have the following discussion in small groups:
- What three words would you use to describe your personality?
- What is a personality style?
- Why is it important to understand your personality style?
- How does your personality affect your choices at home, school, or in the workplace?
- How does personality develop? Is it learned or are you born with it? Do personalities change?
Lesson 4 & 4.5: Factors of Saving a Career & Xello Lesson Exploring Career Factors
- Reflect on a minimum of ONE saved career choice by choice how you feel about that career by selecting the proper emoji
- Reflect on a minimum of ONE saved career choice by discussing what influenced your choice through rating your “dislikes” and “likes” about that chosen career
- Reflect on a minimum of ONE saved career choice by discussing what you learned about this particular career.
- Navigate to Xello Dashboard and click on “Exploring Career Factors” Lesson on the left hand side. Complete lesson.
Lesson 5: Individual Learning Plan
- Create an Individual Learning Plan with your Raider Time Advisor. Upload it to Xello Portfolio.
Lesson 6 & 6.5: Workplace Personalities Discussion & Work Related Skills
- Engage in a small group discussion around THREE careers in relation to your personality style
- Use the data from your Personality Style lesson
- Complete the “Workplace Personalities” Worksheet and upload it to your Portfolio once it is finished.
- Navigate to your “About Me” Page and click on your “Skills Lab” results.
- Choose three Career Profiles from the “Your Career Matches” section. (You can retake the Matchmaker Quiz to update your information)
- Click “Find out Why to learn how your skills lab responses align with skills required in your career
- Click on the “Skills Lab tab reveal the comparison, and complete Skills Match Reflection in Google Classroom. Upload to your Xello Portfolio.
Semester 2 Freshmen ACP Requirements
Lesson 7: Skills Lab “About Me” Section Assessment
- Navigate to the “About Me” page and complete the Skills Lab Assessment.
- Complete the “Skills Lab Reflection” Worksheet found on Google Classroom and upload it to your portfolio on Xello.
Lesson 8: Skills Lab Part 2
- Navigate to “Explore Careers” at the top of your Homepage. Click “Careers” and review your career matches.
- Save THREE Careers to your Xello Portfolio and update the Investigate Cards
- Report how you feel about the career (select appropriate emoji face)
- Add skills the job requires that you would like or dislike with the “likes and dislikes”
- Record a star rating for how well the job aligns with your “Important factors to consider when choosing a job
- In the “Notes” section, record responses to the following questions:
- What are the career projections for these jobs? What factors might be impacting this outlook, and how might you need to differentiate yourself within a competitive job market?
- Explain how the core tasks and workplace description align with your interests and values.
- Explain why your personality style is well-suited for this career.
- Record the mid-range salary amount and explain if it is enough income to support your lifestyle goals.
Lesson 9: Getting Experience Xello Lesson
- Navigate to Xello Dashboard and click on “Getting Experience” Lesson on the left hand side. Complete lesson.
Lesson 10: Work-Related Opportunities
- Use the school website, Xello and your Advisor to complete the “Work Related Opportunities” Worksheet. Upload to your Xello Portfolio.
Lesson 11 & 11.5: Work Related Goals & Importance of Resilience
- Navigate to “Goals and Plans” and add ONE Plan related to a “Work-Related” experience.
- Complete the “Importance of Resilience” Worksheet in Google Classroom and upload to the Xello Portfolio.
Lesson 12: Study Skills & Habits Xello Lesson
- Navigate to Xello Dashboard and click on “Study Skills & Habits” Lesson on the left hand side. Complete lesson.
Lesson 13: Work Habits Self-Assessment and Reflection
- Complete the “Work Habits Self-Assessment and Reflection found in Google Classroom.
